Welcome to Year of Food and Farming web site for Southampton City Council.  This is one of four websites we have created to give parents and pupils more information about school meals, to support schools with the achievement of standards set for food in schools and to provide a resource that provides educational support around all aspects of food. By providing this resource we hope to be able to encourage and support Southampton's children to adopt healthy lifestyles. 

This site supports the Royal Agricultural Society's "Year of Food and Farming". An initiative aimed at increasing awareness of food, where it comes from, how it gets to the shop or supermarket and the benefits good food has on our wellbeing.  This web site will provide links to farms and food producers and allow schools and parents to explore this important aspect of our daily lives.
