Hi and Welcome,

This is a new part of the www.myschoollunch.co.uk/knowsley website that tells you about the Year of Food and Farming and some of the things we are doing in Knowsley. We have been working with our local partners to promote healthy lifestyles for several years and we have made many changes to the way we buy and cook food for lunch times.

Our suppliers are working with local farmers to source fresh, local ingredients and we have made our procedures simpler so that smaller businesses can easily bid for our business.

We wanted to take part in the Year of Food and Farming which is a great idea, supported by Government, to help school pupils learn more about where their food comes from. Lots of new information such as activity sheets and teaching resources will be added through the year so please come back to see what is available. It is hoped that teachers will use the lessons plans that can be downloaded from this website so that they can bring the farm into the classroom. This is one of the aims of The Year of Food and Farming.
